Spinning Yarns is a wool free zone. The title was developed by Rosann Cherubini, Hazel Guy, and Gill McBrier in recognition of how their collective works span the notion of narrative; telling a story ergo, spinning a yarn.

Rosann Cherubini’s ceramics are distinctive, figurative sculptures. Statuesque and intimate in scale, ofttimes whimsical, occasionally political, with each telling a distinct story.

Hazel Guy’s mixed media work explores notions of catching and keeping moments through colour and drawing - snap-shots of time and circumstance. Titles inspired and often plundered from overheard phrases or conversations. Birds and sometimes banal objects regularly appear and become the visual focus and totems solidifying those fleeting moments.

Gill McBrier’s soft undulating landscapes are comprised of subtle colour and thread. They explore the natural world, capturing, defining and evoking  personally significant moments in places that are intimately related to her life story.

New works by all three are included in the exhibition and invite the viewer to engage in the varied narratives of the pieces.
